Using Windows Movie Maker (Version 2012) on Windows 7 to make slide shows, I find that the tops of pictures are cropped. I am using only 4 X 3 jpegs, either 3072 by 2304 landscape, or 2304 X 3072 portrait, and in some slides shows a mixture of each. I have set the aspect ratio to 4:3 and tried various settings for saving in addition to the recommended one.
The cropping at the top is slight, but very annoying in some cases. It even shaves the top off the capital letters of the caption when I have placed one at the top of the picture. The landscape pictures are also cropped slightly at the sides. You can see this happen on the first landscape picture after a portrait picture, as the sides dart inwards after a few seconds. The pictures are fine when played in Movie Maker on full screen or in normal mode.
It is only once they have been saved into mp4 that the cropping occurs. I would be glad of any help on this problem, which did not arise on my old XP version of Movie Maker. Hello Tom, Thank you for submitting your query. I understand that your picture edges was being cut off after saving to mp4 video file. I would like to confirm first if you have the latest version of Movie Maker 2012 with a build version of 16.4.3505.912. In case you do not have the latest version, I would suggest that you update it through this.
Also, I would like to ask if you have tried changing the aspect ratio of the movie to 16:9 before saving it. If you haven't tried, you can try changing the aspect ratio by going to Project tab then under Aspect Ratio pane, click Widescreen (16:9). Furthermore, I would like you to try saving the file in wmv format and update us if you can still see any cutted edges in the pictures you used. In case you have tried all my suggestions and none of them worked, I would like to ask for the project file and the source files you used on it for invesitgation. You can upload it in the private message area enabled for you. Opengl32 Dll Mohaa S.
